The Howick Local Board (HLB) comprises four subdivisions: Howick, Pakuranga, Botany, and Flat Bush, the newest and still developing township. Flat Bush is anticipated to house around 45,000 residents upon completion. Despite HLB's efforts in addressing local concerns, the Flat Bush community identified the need for a dedicated association to enhance road safety, cleanliness, tree planting, and community engagement. On February 12, 2022, residents gathered in Ormiston Town Centre, resolving to establish "The Flat Bush Ratepayers and Residents Association." Officially incorporated on February 15, 2022, the non-political and non-sectarian association aims to address local issues and foster community involvement without a profit motive.
The main purposes of the FBRRA are:
1) to represent and speak collectively or individually on behalf of all Ratepayers and Residents of the Flat
Bush Subdivision;
2) to provide a forum for Flat Bush Ratepayers and Residents to debate their proposals for Howick Local
Board, Council and the government of their community.
3) to present remits from such a forum to local and central governments;
4) to liaise with or affiliate with any other association having similar objectives;
